Joined by concerned residents, calls Brewster to action
July 11, 2008 -- Returning to the intersection
of the Village of Brewster’s Marvin Ave and Main Street, Assemblyman Greg Ball
(R, C, I – Patterson) was joined today by a group of residents who share the
Assemblyman’s concerns over the state of their community due to the influx of
illegal aliens welcomed into their village by the former and failed Brewster
Mayor.
The former mayor’s pro-illegal alien actions have resulted in an increase in
local crime rates and a deterioration of the Main Street community. Earlier this
morning in Brewster, Assemblyman Ball launched a new website called
hirelegally.com, the Assemblyman stopped contractors hiring illegally and handed
out informational pamphlets to contractors and employers as they pick up their
illegal alien day laborers on Marvin Avenue, and elsewhere in the Village of
Brewster.
“On my opponent’s watch, Brewster has become a haven for illegal aliens,
slumlords and contractors. Today we took another positive step to combat the
illegal alien economy and let the local political machine know that the people
of this region want to see this Village redeveloped and revitalized
immediately,” said the Assemblyman.
Immigration and crime experts, report that the majority of illegal alien
criminals first gained access to their victims by having worked in or around the
victim’s home. This new website gives local residents the tools they need to
protect themselves from the dangers associated with illegal immigration. From
gang activity, graffiti, and even home invasions and assaults, criminal activity
by illegal aliens has spiked in recent years.
This was why Ball first created a website to help inform residents of the
dangers of hiring illegal aliens, how to identify an illegal alien (including
what documents to look for), and how to protect themselves from mistakenly
inviting a criminal into their home. This website lists and promotes a list of
local businesses that pledged to only “hire legally.” The Assemblyman also
authored and introduced legislation to take a stand against businesses who
continue to hire illegally and put their clients’ lives in danger.
